Muscat, Oman: World Space Week at the Al-Sahwa Schools
The event at the Al-Sahwa Schools, Al Sarooj runs for a whole week with students doing various activities in different subjects throughout the week. The week starts with a movie for the students in grade 5, 7 and 11 on the 4th of October. On the 5th, this day’s feature is the launching of water rockets and the flying (dropping) of egg capsules with competition to see which rockets go highest and which egg capsules is the most enduring. On the 10th, the week ends with an exhibition of the outcomes of the week. The event is organized by Margaret Hawthorn, Head of Mathematics at the Al-Sahwa Schools.
Muscat, Oman: World Space Week at the PDO Planetarium
Throughout the week of 4-10 October, the PDO Planetarium, in cooperation with the Oman Astronomical Society, will run shows and will brief the audience about the World Space Week, distributing leaflets. All events will be available in Arabic and English and will be free of charge. The programs are as follows:
- Marmul in space - general public program show
- Journey to the Moon - general public program show
- Thuraya - advanced general public program show
- Clouds of Fire - advanced general public program show
- Star's Messenger - advanced general public program show
- Presentations and movies.
The person in charge with the event is the curator of the PDO Planetarium, Mr. Marwan Shwaiki.
