Throughout the October 4-10 period, all the 58 Grade 7 students of the International School of London - Qatar are involved in space-related projects, their work being presented to the community at the end of the World Space Week. The projects feature constellations, eclipses, the solar system, extraterrestrials and black holes. Other grades are doing experiments with parachutes and with rockets. The events are coordinated by Pilar Fernandez, Anne-Marie Kelly, Iara Lindeman and Tim Hughes - MYP team.

Doha, Qatar: World Space Week at the Doha Modern Indian School
The Doha Modern Indian School joins the celebrations of the World Space Week with events for all age groups. On Tuesday, October 4, Grades 6, 9, 10 participate at a caption writing event. On Wednesday, October 5, grades 9 and 10 participate at the poster making event titled “Expanding Horizon”. On Thursday, October 6, Grade 6 students participate at the badge making event titled “Important events in the space history”. On Sunday, October 9, Grades 9 and 10 participate at the space fiction story writing event titled “My journey to space”. On Monday, October 10, grade 6 students participate at the power point presentation event titled “Our Solar System and Night Sky”. Later that day, they will present their work to Grade 1 and 2 students. Throughout the week, a teacher will dress up like an alien for the “I am an Alien” event. She will visit Grades 1 and 2, and ask a few simple questions about objects in the class and around. The activity aims to enhance the descriptive skills and vocabulary of students. Also, students of Grade 1 will paint the inside of a coconut shell with black colour, and then sprinkle a pinch of glitter powder. This will resemble how the sky looks at night, during the event titled “The Sky at Night”. Throughout the week, the theme for the bulletin boards will be “Our Universe”. The event is coordinated by Ms. Sangeeta Kini.
