On October 16, 2011, Comet Elenin will make its closest approach to the Earth at a distance of 0.2338 AU (34980000 km; 21730000 mi). On this occasion, members of the Bahrain Astronomical Society invite the public to observe the comet from the grounds of the Bapco Club in Manama, dispeling the popular myths associated with this approach.
